Default What can we send?

This is my first post here, but one I already posted at the Schapelle Corby Support site. I am looking for ideas of what are the best things to send to Australians in Kerobokan and thought to ask here as well.

I know that money sent to trust accounts is the safest way to send money, and have seen the suggested items posted at the FPSS site, but I am thinking of small treats I can send with letters that might be enjoyed, and that won’t offend the Indonesian authorities.

So far I have thought of:
sporting wall posters - playing cards - board games - hard lollies - comics - sporting papers and magazines -

Can anyone advise if these would be suitable, and suggest anything else these young people would enjoy?

Welcome kate - they sound like ok suggestions to me. You could contact scott rushs family - the link to scotts site is http://www.scottarush.com.au/ - his family would know exactly what Scott would like and could suggest things for the others as well.

Thanks for joining the forums and thanks for thinking of these Aussies in their time of need.

Thanks for your welcome.

This is to share a little more information - I discovered that for parcels sent to Indonesia the cost is $20 per kilo. That can easily be more than the cost of the contents, and Airmail is the only option.

In future I will be sending money to accounts set up by the families of the Bali Nine, who can then buy items in Australia and take them to Bali, or buy when they visit.

An email sent to Kay Danes at :

http://www.usp.com.au/fpss/case-bali...005.html#WRITE

Will get the information you need to do this, and will help those of the Bali Nine who do not have their own websites set up to receive donations.

Default Posting to Bali

I found some mail I sent to Bali hadn’t arrived, talking to our local Postmaster he suggested I ask for printed stickers when posting, rather than use stamps.

It seems that Australia’s colourful postage stamps are in great demand in some parts of the world, and people are tempted to intercept them.

I thought to share this with people here as it takes no time at all to ask for a printed sticker instead of stamp, and avoids the frustration of mail going astray.

Glad to be of help Admin. And, yes, I am very trying. {G}

The most frustrating thing about losing mail is that the person you have sent it to thinks they have been forgotten. I often don’t get replies when prisoners don’t have money for postage, which is OK with me, but it’s easy for them to feel let down if mine to them don’t arrive. If printed stickers remedy this it will be a relief all round.

doublestandard2007

your post is a little jumbled and i am finding it difficult to see the point you are trying to make.

i don't agree with you saying "leave them alone"... the Bali 9 appreciate all good mail and gifts sent to them by supporters. some of it helps them through their darkest hours and also helps pass some time away. by writing letters it shows them that they are considered and thought of, and that people care about them.

the Bali 9 have to endure a lot of bad publicity and negativity, they are living in a slum and are in fear of losing their lives anyday.

we cannot turn our back on them.

i have a really good idea actually. When i am feeling stressed and not too good, i find that getting out some crayons or pencils etc etc and one of my kids colouring-in books and just sitting quietly and colouring-in is extremely therapeutic and it does really make me feel better and can help me keep my mind off things
