The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. It violates the right to life. It is irrevocable and can be inflicted on the innocent. It has never been shown to deter crime more effectively than other punishments.

We respectfully appeal to the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to spare the lives of these six Australians on death row in Kerobokan Prison, Bali. These boys have committed crimes and should be punished, but with appropriate prison care and rehabilitation, they might have an opportunity to turn their lives to good and make amends for the wrongs they have done.

We appeal that their sentences be commuted to life with parole conditions.

Show other young people that drug trafficking is WRONG. It can result in a life sentence and that's not worth forfeiting your freedom …for any price.

I didn't get to yesterdays meeting, but I'm the short dude
dressed in black if anyone from here can turn up on Wednesday.

Tina is a mate who is a great example of a regular person
who never stops trying to get more done for people.
She even brings a pen and pad to street rallies to jot down notes and ideas.
I like that. And I like the whole philosophy behind the FPSS approach too.

The Wednesday meeting was great.
They have started an organization called Australians Against Capital Punishment. It is a brand new organization that will lobby for all people on death row, anywhere.

The first event is:

The Hon. Barry Jones – former federal Science Minister
Tim Goodwin – Death Penalty Coordinator, Amnesty International
Rev. David Pitman, Moderator of the Uniting Church, Queensland Synod
Lee Rush – father of Scott Rush one of the young Australians facing the death penalty in Indonesia

Australians Against Capital Punishment are a group of concerned citizens from many backgrounds and many walks of life who have joined together to campaign for an end to the death penalty in all circumstances, in all countries.
